Source Protection Configuration dialog box parameters and settings
Use the
Source Protection Configuration
dialog box to apply Source Protection to project components.This table describes the columns in the
Source Protection
list. Column | Description |
Source Protection | The license name, the source key name, or the partially obfuscated source key. Components protected by a license or source key appear under that license or key. |
Locked | A component is locked (Yes) or unlocked (No). |
Container | The program or Equipment Phase that contains the routine. The Add-On Instruction container name is Add-On Instructions.Equipment Phase |
Vendor: Source Protection | The vendor associated with the license. Appears only for components protected with a license. |
Execution Protection | The type of Execution Protection applied to the component: either the controller key, based on the controller family, or the name of the execution license. |
Vendor: Execution Protection | The vendor associated with the execution license. Appears only for components protected with a license. |
This table describes the buttons on the dialog box.
Button | Description |
Protect | Opens the Protect dialog box. Select License or Source Key protection, select a specific license, and apply Execution Protection to a component or to multiple components. |
Unprotect | Removes License or Source Key protection from a component or from multiple components. |
Lock | Locks a component or multiple components. Cannot view or edit components until they are unlocked by an authorized user. An authorized user must unlock components before viewing or editing. |
Unlock | Unlocks a component or multiple components. To unlock components, the computer running the Logix Designer application must have the required license with at least View permission present. |
Source Key Configuration | Opens the Source Key Configuration dialog box. Use this dialog box to update or clear the path to the source key file location, view the source key file, or remove the menu item that allows users to open the Source Protection Configuration dialog box. |

Detailed information | Description |
Source Protection Type | Source Protection Type applied to a component: Source Key, License, or Unprotected. |
Name | The name of the license, the source key name, or the partially obfuscated source key. Components protected by a license or source key are listed under that license or key. |
Vendor | The vendor associated with the license. Appears only for components protected with a license. |
Details | Additional details about the license or source key, such as the product code associated with a license. |
My Permissions | The permissions available for the component or license. +View indicates that the Viewable option is selected for a protected component. |
My Expiration | The date that the license expires. If a license has multiple expiration dates, only the earliest date appears. |
Execution Protection Type | Applicable only on
CompactLogix 5380, CompactLogix 5480, ControlLogix 5580, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and GuardLogix 5580 controllersLogix Designer . The type of Execution Protection applied to the component: Controller Key, a specific License, or Unprotected. Also lists Name, Vendor, Details, and Controller Key. |
Controller Key Only | The controller family on which the component can be executed. Tip: To execute the component on a different controller family, unlock and unprotect the component, copy it to a project for the desired controller family, and then re-protect and re-lock it. |
