Rockwell Automation and Claroty recently conducted a survey which highlights the current state of operational technology (OT) security in Australia and New Zealand. The survey, which included 42 respondents across a range of OT environments, revealed that 65% of respondents detected at least one OT-related cybersecurity incident in the last 12 months, with 20% reporting over 10 attacks in that time.
The report also highlights ongoing challenges in the disconnect between the teams managing OT and information technology (IT) systems, with a quarter of respondents admitting that their IT and OT business units still aren’t collaborating as well as they should be.
These findings are a cause for concern, and operators must be continually prepared for the unexpected – and ready to respond to maintain the continuity of their essential business.
