Importing/Exporting Components in a Project

To export to an .L5X file:
You can only export content if you have the project file open.
  1. From within an open project, select what you wish to export (for example, the component in the Controller Organizer or the rungs in the Ladder Editor).
  2. Click the right mouse button and choose the
    Export
    option.
    NOTE:
You can also use the main menu to export content. For rungs, choose Edit>Export Rungs; for components, choose Tools>Export>Component.
The Export dialog box appears.
  1. In the File name field, enter the name you want to use for the content you are exporting.
Displays the name of the current tag. If desired, you can rename this tag.
This is the name of the .L5X file.
  2. Enter a text description that describes the contents of the file (optional).
The default is the description of the component itself (except for Rung exports). Rung exports have an empty file description by default.
  3. Click
    Export
    to export the content.
To import from an .L5X file:
  1. Right click on the folder in the Controller Organizer (whichever component you want to import).

    The Import dialog box appears.
  3. In the File name field, enter the name (and full path) of the .L5X file that contains the content you want to import.
You may need to navigate to the appropriate directory to find the file if you do not know its full name and path.
  4. Click
    Import
    to import the content.
The Import Configuration dialog box appears.
  5. Make the appropriate configuration changes, according to how you would like the content to be imported into your current project.

    OK
    .
