Safety projects

Logix controller projects that include the GuardLogix or Compact GuardLogix Safety controllers are considered safety projects. These projects can be uploaded to FactoryTalk Vault and upgraded to newer versions of the design software without removing their safety-lock.

However, if you change the controller type of a safety project the safety-lock is removed. If you change the controller type to a controller that does not support safety features the Safety I/O modules will be deleted from the project as well as the safety tag mapping. Any safety instructions will no longer be verified, and the project will not be able to be deployed.
