PAO status and parameters

Use
General
tab of the
PAO Properties
dialog box to monitor the status and set parameters for the selected Process Analog Output (PAO) instruction or function block. Use the
General
tab to enter CV values used when the device is commanded by the operator, in maintenance, and in interlock.
To monitor the status and set parameters for PAO instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Select the
    General
    tab.
  3. Set the parameters:
    • Bypassable interlocks.
Tells the instruction that all interlocks, bypassable or not, are to be checked during operation.
    • CV value
. CV value processed by the PAO instruction as an input when the instruction owner is Operator or Maintenance. If the setting requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the setting from the Logix Designer dialog.
    • CV clamping limits
      .
      • High
. The high limit value (engineering units) at which the CV entered by an operator, program, or from the external source is clamped.
      • Low
. The low limit value (engineering units) at which the CV entered by an operator, program, or from the external source is clamped.
    • Interlock CV target.
CV value used when an interlock not-OK condition causes the output CV to be replaced and the PAO instruction is not configured for holding the last good CV value when interlocked. The configuration is available in the
      Advanced
      tab.
    • Sheds and alarms reset.
Reset all sheds and alarms of the instruction. The button is enabled when the device and the instruction are ready for reset. The action is immediate if the command request does not need to be confirmed by the operator. If the command request requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the command from the Logix Designer dialog. The button is always disabled when the device is offline.
    • Rate of change limits
      .
      • Increasing
. Increasing CV rate of change limit (engineering units/second). Rate limiting is not applied in Out-of-service and Hand. You can also bypass the rate of change limiting for Interlock, Maintenance and Override from the
        Advanced
        tab settings.
      • Decreasing
. Decreasing CV rate of change limit (engineering units/second). Rate limiting is not applied in Out-of-service and Hand. You can also bypass the rate of change limiting for Interlock, Maintenance and Override from the
        Advanced
        tab settings.
    • Physical/Virtual.
Switch between physical and virtual operation. When you select physical operation, the instruction monitors and controls physical equipment. When you select virtual operation, a simulation of the equipment is used, and the actual equipment is left idle.
  4. View the read-only parameters:
    • Device state
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, the indicator displays the current device state, such as Off, Pulse on, or Out of service.
    • Device issues
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, the indicator displays fault conditions, such as Feedback fault or I/O fault.
  5. Select
    Apply
    .
