PVLV status and commands

Use the
General
tab on the
PVLV Properties
dialog box to monitor the status and issue online commands for Process Valve (PVLV) instructions.
To monitor and issue online commands for PVLV instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. When online with the controller, select these commands.
TIP: Visibility of the command buttons is dynamic based on the configuration of the device.
    • Bypassable permissives & interlocks: Check
. Tells the instruction that all permissives and interlocks, bypassable or not, are to be checked during operation.
    • Bypassable permissives & interlocks: Bypass
. Tells the instruction that bypassable permissives and interlocks are bypassed, or ignored, during operation.
    • Operator/Maintenance online commands
. The commands are enabled when online with the controller and the valve and instruction are ready for the command to initiate. The valve immediately responds to the command unless the operator must confirm the command. If the command request requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the command from the Logix Designer dialog.
      TIP: Use the
      HMI > Command configuration
tab to define labels for the command buttons.
      • Position 1
PVLV_position1icon. Moves the valve to position 1 (default is Close).
      • Position 2
PVLV_position2icon. Moves the valve to position 2 (default is Open).
      • Pulse position 1
PVLV_position2pulse. Commands the valve to pulse position 1.
      • Pulse position 2
PVLV_position1pulse. Commands the valve to pulse position 2.
      • Pulse continuously
PVLV_continuouspulse. Commands the valve to pulse continuously.
      • Stop
PVLV_stopicon. Commands the valve to stop.
      • Trip device
PVLV_position1icon. Commands the valve to trip.
    • Sheds and Alarms Reset
. Resets all sheds and alarms for which the condition has returned to normal. The button is enabled when the device and the instruction are ready for reset and a signature is not required. The action is immediate if the command request does not need to be confirmed by the operator. If the command request requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the command from the Logix Designer dialog. The button is always disabled when the device is offline.
    • Device: Physical/Virtual
. Switch between physical and virtual modes. When you select physical operation, the instruction monitors and controls physical equipment. When you select virtual operation, a simulation of the equipment is used, and the actual equipment is left idle.
  3. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    and
    Device issues
indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
. Displays the current valve state, such as
      Pulse continuously
      or
      Out of service
      .
    • Device issues
. Displays fault conditions: None, Feedback fault, Transit stall, Full stall, Loss position 1, Loss position 2, Actuator fault, Trip fail, Interlock trip, Not ready trip, I/O fault, or Configuration error.
  4. Monitor the values and current states for permissives, interlocks, and sheds.
