With the ongoing shortage of skilled workers, manufacturers and producers need every advantage they can get to make operations more efficient. Modern HMI software can be a secret weapon in that battle — even an unsung hero. High-performance HMIs are designed to improve process control. And as a result, it helps software designers and operators work more efficiently with easy, flexible, secure and transparent collaboration, whether in the plant or the field. Operators can better see what's happening and manage operations.
We dive into how this is done in our cover story starting in our February 2024 magazine. Some of of the biggest advantages of a modern HMI, out of many, are removing barriers to valuable data and allowing applications to be designed collaboratively. This provides so much power for software designers and machine operators to reach their goals like improving operation, collaboration and business agility.
A huge advantage, though, is a centralized project repository. With this, design tools and code can seamlessly integrate into the centralized repository within the smart HMI, allowing multiple users to make changes and merge the changes into the master version. It also helps identify and resolve potential duplication of efforts.
Bam! Now how’s that for a secret weapon?
