Advanced Network Configuration dialog box parameters

The
Advanced Network Configuration
dialog box includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Network mode
Indicates the network mode.
Network topology
Displays whether the switch is operating in a DLR or linear network. Available values:
  • Linear
  • Ring
Supervisor
Active ring supervisor
Displays the IP Address or MAC Address of the active ring supervisor. Only available when it is a Ring network.
Active ring supervisor precedence
Displays the precedence currently assigned to the active ring supervisor.
Only available when it is a DLR network.
Supervisor precedence
Specifies the supervisor precedence number.
Acceptable values: 0 to 255. Default: 0.
When multiple nodes are enabled as a supervisor, the node with the highest precedence value is assigned as the active ring supervisor and the other nodes automatically become back-up supervisors.
When two supervisors have the same precedence, the device with the numerically highest MAC address becomes the active ring supervisor.
Only available when Supervisor Mode is enabled.
Supervisor status
Displays the status of the supervisor. Only available when Supervisor Mode is enabled.
Available values:
  • Active
    - device is the Active Ring Supervisor
  • Backup
    - device is the backup ring supervisor
  • Cannot support current Beacon Interval or Beacon Timeout
    - device cannot support the beacon interval or beacon timeout values of the Active Ring Supervisor.
Supervisor mode
Displays whether the device's Supervisor Mode is enabled or disabled. The Supervisor Mode is configured in the
Ring
view.
Ring Parameters
Beacon interval
Specifies the frequency that the supervisor transmits a beacon frame through both of its ring ports.
Acceptable values: 200 to 100,000 µs
Default interval: 400 µs
Only available when Supervisor Mode is enabled.
Beacon timeout
Specifies the amount of time the ring nodes wait before timing out in the absence of received beacon frames.
Acceptable values: 400 to 500,000 µs
The timeout value must be at least 2 times the beacon interval value but cannot exceed 500,000 µs.
Only available when Supervisor Mode is enabled.
Ring protocol VLAN ID
Specifies the VLAN ID to use in the ring protocol message.
Acceptable values: 0 to 4094.
Only available when Supervisor Mode is enabled.
Refresh
Retrieves and displays the latest values from the device.
Set
Sends the settings to the switch. The
Enter password
dialog box may appear.
