Port Configuration view parameters

The
Port Configuration
view includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Port
Displays the port to which this configuration applies. The port number includes the port type (Fa for Fast Ethernet, Gi for Gigabit Ethernet, or Te for Ten Gigabit), the base or expansion device number (1 for the base, 2 for the first expansion device, or 3 for the second expansion device), and the specific port number. For example:
  • Gi1/1 is Gigabit Ethernet port 1 on the base.
  • Gi1/2 is Gigabit Ethernet port 2 on the base.
  • Fa1/1 is Fast Ethernet port 1 on the base.
  • Fa2/1 is Fast Ethernet port 1 on the first expansion device.
The base and expansion device number is only applicable for Stratix 8000/8300 switches.
Enable
Indicates that the port is enabled. If cleared, the port is disabled.
We recommend disabling the port if the port is not in use and is not attached to a device, and to troubleshoot a suspected unauthorized connection.
Not available in offline mode.
Link Status
Displays the port’s link status as
Active
or
Inactive
.
Auto-Negotiate
Indicates that the port and end-device will auto-negotiate the link speed and duplex mode. If cleared, manually select the desired port speed and duplex mode.
Not available in offline mode.
Speed Selected
Speed Current
The operating speed of the port.
Speed
is blank when the port is not connected and not available when
Auto-Negotiate
is enabled.
Possible speed for different ports are:
  • Gigabit (Gi)
    • 10 Mbps
    • 100 Mbps
    • 1 Gbps
  • Fast Ethernet (Fa)
    • 10 Mbps
    • 100 Mbps
  • Ten Gigabit (Te)
    • 1 Gbps
    • 10 Gbps
The available speed values for each port depend on the device:
  • For IMS28GN devices, uplink ports 25-28 have a speed of 1 Gbps.
  • For IMS28N devices, uplink ports 25-28 have a speed of 10 Gbps.
Duplex Selected
Duplex Current
Specifies the duplex mode of the port. The available values for each port are:
  • Half
-One or both devices cannot send data at the same time. Half Duplex is not available when speed is set to 1 Gbps.
  • Full
    - Both devices can send data at the same time.
Duplex is not available when
Auto-Negotiate
is enabled.
Port Diagnostics
Opens the dialog box for diagnostics information.
Refresh
Retrieves and displays the latest values from the device.
Set
Sends the settings to the switch. The
Enter password
dialog box may appear.
