Cable Diagnostic dialog box parameters

The
Cable Diagnostic
dialog box includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Cable Diagnostics - Port
Displays the selected port for configuration. The port number includes the port type (Fa for Fast Ethernet or Gi for Gigabit Ethernet), the base or expansion module number (1 for the base, 2 for the first expansion module, or 3 for the second expansion module), and the specific port number. For example: Gi1/1 is Gigabit Ethernet port 1 on the base.
Test last run
Displays the time the test was last executed. The date time format is mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss tt. If the test was never run, all distance and status information is blank.
The time value comes from the switch. Set the time on the switch using Express Setup on the Device Manager Web Interface (lost on power cycle) or define an NTP server via CLI (saved on power cycle).
Diagnose Cable
Runs the Diagnose Cable test.
Pair
Specifies the pair of cables in the network. If pair does not exist or test was never run, this is blank.
Status
Specifies the link state the last time the test was executed.
  • No Break Detected
    - pair status is normal
  • Break Detected
    - pair status is not normal
Distance to Break
The distance to the break from the switch for each estimated pair with a plus or minus error value individually listed. A value displays only when
