PoE view parameters

The
PoE
view includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Power over Ethernet (PoE) Port Configuration
Port
Displays the ports available for the configuration.
Mode
Specifies the power management mode of the port. The available values for each port are:
  • Auto
    - Enables the detection of powered devices and automatically allocates power to the PoE port if a device is connected. To limit the power allocated to a port, adjust the
    Power Limit
    setting.
  • Off
    - PoE is disabled.
  • Static
    - Reserves power for this port even when no device is connected to ensure that power is provided upon device detection. Choose Static mode to prioritize a port. The switch allocates power to Static mode ports before allocating power to Auto mode ports. To limit the power a port uses, adjust the
    Power Used
    setting.
Status
Displays the PoE status on the port. The available values for each port are:
  • Transitional/Unknown
    - No value is returned from the platform.
  • On
    - Power is supplied to the port with no errors.
  • Off
    - No power is supplied to the port.
  • Denied
    - Not enough power to allocate to the port, or the power configured for the port is less than the power the port requires.
  • Faulted
    - A fault is encountered on the port.
  • Overdrawn
    - The port overdrew power and is in an overdrawn state.
Power Limit
Specifies the power level that limits the power allocated to the port. You can change the power limit of a port only when
Mode
is set to
Auto
, and the value must be within the range from 4 W through 30 W.
Power Used
Specifies the amount of power used by the port. You can change the power used by the port only when
Mode
is set to
Static
, and the
value must be within the range from 4 W through 30 W.
Power Priority
Specifies the priority of the power used by the port. In the event that the power budget changes, for example power failure or removal of a power supply, the ports with a low priority can be shed to keep the higher priority ports powered.
The available values for each port are:
  • High
  • Low
Tip
:
Power Priority
is only available for Stratix 5410 device.
Switch Statistics
Total Power Supported
Specifies the appropriate value to limit the total PoE power budget. This value is based on the power source and the Stratix switch type.
  • For 5400 Stratix switches, the value range is from 4 W through 125 W.
  • For 5800 Stratix switches, the value range is from 4 W through 240 W.
  • For 5800 plus Stratix switches, the value range is from 4 W through 480 W.
  • For 5410 and other Stratix switches, the value range is from 4 W through 130 W.
Total Power Used
Display the amount of power the device is using.
Remaining Power Available
Displays the amount of power available to the device.
Refresh
Retrieves and displays the latest values from the device.
Set
Sends the settings to the switch. The
Enter password
dialog box may appear.
