Installing the Cognite PI Extractor in a FTDM Environment

  1. Build the CDF Objects Required by the Extractor.
    1. FT Hub Homepage
    2. Login using MyRockwell account
      Sign-in
    3. Click on the DataMosaix tile to create the objects required by the extractor; in this example, we will create a dataset and extractor pipeline for use by the Cognite PI Extractor.
      1. Click on the FT DataMosaix tile.
        FT Hub
      2. After the FT DataMosaix application opens, click on the “Continue to Main Site” option.
        FactoryTalk DataMosaix
      3. When the CDF screen opens, click on the CDF Login button.
        CDF Screen
      4. After logging into the CDF application, click on the name of the project.
      5. Create the first object required for the Cognite PI Extractor:  the dataset
        1. Click on
          Explore
          and select
          Use the Data Catalog
          .
        2. Click on the [Create a data set] button.
        3. When creating the dataset, fill in the fields shown below using the to-be-determined naming convention before clicking on the [Create] button.
        4. The remaining sections will be filled in later, so scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the [Done] button.
        5. Click on Explore and select Use the Data Catalog.
        6. Click on the name of your newly-created dataset to see its properties/definition.
        7. Remember the Dataset ID and External ID, as they will be used in later steps.
        1. Click on Integrate and select Monitor Extractors.
        2. Click on the [Create extraction pipeline] button.
        3. When creating the extraction pipeline, fill in the fields shown below using the to-be-determined naming convention before clicking on the [Create] button.
        4. The details for this Extractor pipeline will be filled in later; for now, capture the External ID and Extraction Pipeline ID.
  2. Register an Extractor Instance in the DataMosaix Project.
    1. From the FT DataMosaix application, open the Management Console’s [Extractor Info] tab.
    2. Click on the [Add] icon to start the Extractor Definition process.
    3. Fill out the “Extractor Info Detail” form as shown below, using the to-be-determined naming convention before clicking on the [Save and Create Credentials] button.
      1. Document the credentials and other details that were generated in the above step, as these details are not captured elsewhere.
