Limit the number of activation checkouts
Configure
CodeMeter
options to limit the number of times a computer or user can check out an activation.- Keep these considerations in mind when configuringCodeMeteroptions:
- Only activations that are currently on the server can be configured.
- Changing the access rules might require a refresh of theCodeMeterserver.
- To configure a computer to be a CodeMeter server, select theRun Network Serverbox on theAdvanced > Configure CodeMeterpage.
To limit the number of times a computer or user can check out an activation:
- InFactoryTalk Activation Manager, click theAdvancedtab.
- ClickConfigure.CodeMeter
- ClickWeb Adminto open theCodeMeterWebAdmin utility.Tip:In theCodeMeterWebAdmin utility, click the help icon for more information on settings and parameters.
- On theConfigurationmenu, clickServer > License Access Permissions.
- In theModebox, selectAdvanced.
- In theAdvanced Mode Configurationbox, underSpecific access rules, clickAdd new Firm Codeto open theAdd Firm Codebox.
- Select the firm code to configure and clickAdd. The firm code is added underSpecific access rules.
- Under the firm code, clickAdd New Product Codeto open theAdd Product Codebox.
- Select the product name for the activation to be included and clickAdd.
- ClickAdd new access ruleto open theAdd Rulebox.
- ForAction, select the opposite of the default action. For example, if the default action isDenyfor access not covered by the rule, selectAllowfor the rule action.
- In theHost,Subnet,User, orGroupbox, enter an identifier for the computer or user to be allowed to borrow an activation.
- In theHOSTbox, enter the computer name or IP address for which access should be allowed, or
- In theSubnetbox, enter the IP address for which access should be allowed, or
- In theUserbox, enter the user for whom access should be allowed. Use the following format:DomainName\UserName or PCName\UserName
- In theGroupbox, enter a Windows user group for whom access should be allowed. Use the following format:DomainName\GroupName
- In theLimitbox, enter the maximum number of times that an activation can be checked out or borrowed by the specified host, subnet, user, or group. The number cannot be larger than the number of activations on the server.
