License Validity Details
- ServerFT Activation Manager checks the Server license at login:
- The Server license is used to access the DataView application. Without Server license User cannot access the application.
- When the DataView application is installed for the first time and if the Server license is not available, the license model moves to Grace period and the User can access the DataView application for the first 7 days.
- After the expiration of grace period, the User will not be able to access DataView application.
- Content
- FT Activation Manager checks for the number ofStoryboardsat login:
- If the Content license limit is within 50 (of the license limit), the FT Activation Manager prompts a message to the Admin User and allows the User to login and create Storyboards.
- If the number of Content licenses reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
- The FT Activation Manager checks for the number of Storyboards upon User saves the Content.
- If there is no Content license (for new DataView installation), User can create new Content, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays at the bottom of the page.
- If there are no Licenses available for Content, an error message displays and User cannot create Storyboard.
- The FT Activation Manager checks for the number of Storyboards upon User saves the Content.
- Design Users
- Design User licenses are checked when importing “Design User” into DataView.
- If Design User licenses are not available, FT Activation Manager prompts a warning message to the Admin User and does not allow user to edit the User Role which will change the license model to grace period.
- If Design User licenses are available, the User is imported and the number of Design Users is incremented by 1.
- The FT Activation Manager checks the Design User Licenses while modifying a User Role to Design User.
- If Design User licenses are not available, FT Activation Manager prompts a warning message to the Admin User and allows user to edit the User Role which will change the license model to grace period.
- If Design User licenses are available, the FT Activation Manager allows the Admin User to edit the User Role. FT Activation Manager increments the Design User licensing count by 1 and decrements View User count by 1.
- When a Design User is removed from DataView, the FT Activation Manager releases a Design User license.
- If the number of Design User reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period model and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
- View Users
- View User licenses are checked when importing “View User” into DataView.
- If View User licenses are available, DataView prompts a message to the User and allows importing 'View User' into DataView which will change the license model to grace period.
- If View User licenses are available, the User is imported and the number of View Users is incremented by 1.
- If View User licenses are not available, DataView prompts a message to the User and allows importing 'View User' into DataView and grace message is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
- FT Activation Manager checks the View User Licenses while editing a User Role to View User.
- If View User licenses are available, FT Activation Manager prompts a warning message to the Admin User and allows you to edit the User Role which will change the license model to grace period.
- If View User licenses are available, the FT Activation Manager allows the Admin User to edit the User Role. FT Activation Manager increments the View User license count by 1 and decrements Design User count by 1.
- When View User is removed from DataView, the FT Activation Manager releases a View User license.
- If the number of View User reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
- FT Metrics Connector
- FT Metrics licenses are checked when connecting “FT Metrics” connector to DataView.
- If FT Metrics licenses are available, FT Activation Manager prompts a message to the User and allows to create 'FT Metrics' connector to DataView which will change the license model to grace period.
- If the number of FT Metrics reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
- FT Alarms & Events Connector
- FT Alarms & Events licenses are checked when connecting “FT Alarms & Events” connector to DataView.
- If FT Alarms & Events licenses are available, FT Activation Manager prompts a message to the User and allows to create 'FT Alarms & Events' connector to DataView which will change the license model to grace period.
- If the number of FT Alarms & Events reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
- FT Connect
- FT Connect licenses are checked when connecting to “Third-party Connectors i.e. MSSQL server and CSV file connectors” to DataView.
- If FT Connect licenses are available, FT Activation Manager prompts a message to the User and allows to create 'MSSQL server or CSV file' connector to DataView which will change the license model to grace period.
- If the number of FT Connect License reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
- FT InfoPlatform
- FT InfoPlatform licenses are checked when connecting to “FactoryTalk Service and FactoryTalk Edge connectors” to DataView.
- If FT InfoPlatform licenses are available, FT Activation Manager prompts a message to the User and allows to create 'FT Service' connector to DataView which will change the license model to grace period.
- If the number of FT InfoPlatform License reaches or exceeds the limit, the license model moves to Grace period and a banner displays on the bottom of the page.
