Shortcut menus
A shortcut menu displays when you right-click an object or area of the active window. The options listed on a shortcut menu are the most commonly used options for the selected item or area.
- When you right-click a parent item (other than the highest item in the hierarchy), a shortcut menu displays the following options:
- New Item– Opens theCreate Itemdialog box (whereItemis the object being created).
- Refresh– Refreshes the list of data items in the Hierarchy pane.
- When you right-click a material, a shortcut menu displays the following options:
- Cut– Cuts the selected material and puts a copy on the clipboard.
- Copy– Copies the selected material to the clipboard.
- Paste– Pastes a material from the clipboard.
- Delete– Deletes the selected material.
- Rename– Renames the selected action.
- Properties– Opens theEditdialog box for the selected material.
- When you right-click an item that does not have items associated with it, a shortcut menu displays some or all of the following options:
- Undo– Cancels the last editing operation.
- Cut– Cuts the selected item and copies it to the clipboard.
- Copy– Copies the selected item to the clipboard.
- Paste– Pastes an item from the clipboard.
- Delete– Deletes the selected item.

- Properties– Opens theEditdialog box for the selected item.
- When you right-click an empty area of the screen, a shortcut menu displays some of the following options:
- Copy List to Clipboard– Copies all data (displayed or not displayed) associated with the selected object, to the clipboard. You then can paste the clipboard contents into another application, such as Excel to create a spreadsheet.
- Refresh– Refreshes the list of data items in the Hierarchy pane and, if appropriate, updates the List View window from the data server.
- Hide– Hides the selected item from view. Select again to show the hidden item.
- Properties– Allows you to change the Hierarchy pane options (colors, fonts, columns, and sorting).
