Open a project

Open a project to make changes to the project. You cannot open a project that was created using a newer version of
FactoryTalk Design Studio
. Open a project that was created using the same or previous version of
FactoryTalk Design Studio
.
  1. Close any open project.
  2. Either:
    • On the
      Welcome
      page, select
      Open project
      .
    • From the menu bar, select
      File > Open project
      .
  3. In
    Open project
    , in
    Open from
    , select the location of the project:
    • Local
      . The project opens from only the local computer and is not shared with other users.
    • Remote
      . The project is a shared project that was created on a different computer.
  4. Select the project to open.
  5. Select
    Open
    .
    TIP:
    • When opening a local project, the message
      No remote repository
      on the status bar indicates that there is no connection to the shared server.
    • When opening a shared project, the message
      Project synchronized
      appears on the status bar. After changing the local copy of the shared project, commit and push your changes to update the shared project on the remote repository.
    • You cannot open a shared project for which a folder or repository exists on the local hard disk drive. Open the local project.
  6. When opening a local project, the message
    No remote repository
    on the status bar indicates that there is no connection to the shared server.
  7. When opening a shared project, the message
    Project synchronized
    appears on the status bar. After changing the local copy of the shared project, commit and push your changes to update the shared project on the remote repository.
