Edit the properties of a tag
Edit a tag to change the allocation and reference data stored in the controller. Edit a tag for a program, alarm, or add-on instruction.
- On the explorer bar, selectSystem.
- InSystem, right-click the item and selectTags and parameters. The Tag Editor opens.TIP:
- To openTags and parameters, you can also select the item inSystemand then in theSystemtitle bar, selectView tags and parameters: (item name).
- To open the Tag Editor for an add-on instruction, expandData TypesandAdd-On Definedand then double-click(Add-On Instruction name)_TYPE.
- Select the row of the tag to edit.
- InProperties, edit:
- Name. Type a new name for the tag or program parameter.
- Description. Describe the purpose of the tag or the latest change to the tag.
- Type. Type the name of the data type until the data type appears or browseSelect Data Type, select the data type from the list, and then selectApply. To configure array values, see Array concepts.
- Value. Enter the value of the tag.
- On theGeneraltab, edit:
- Usage. Select
to select LOCAL, INPUT, OUTPUT, INOUT, or PUBLIC. The selected usage appears in the Tag Editor.
- Style. For a BOOL, SINT, INT, DINT, or REAL tag, select a display style to define how the tag value appears. Styles include BINARY, DECIMAL, HEX, OCTAL.
