Tangent (TAN)

The TAN instruction takes the tangent of the Source value (in radians) and stores the result in the Destination.
The TAN operator or function computes the tangent of Source and returns the floating point result.

IMPORTANT
Unexpected operation may occur if:
  • Output tag operands are overwritten.
  • Members of a structure operand are overwritten.
  • Except when specified, structure operands are shared by multiple instructions.
There are data conversion rules for mixing numeric data types within an instruction. See Data conversions.

Operator Aspects
The TAN operator can be used in various expressions. Both applications of TAN return a floating point result containing the tangent of the Source. Depending on the context, this value may then be type converted if appropriate.
