Configuration Tab 1756-IB16D

Use this tab to configure a 1756-IB16D DC diagnostic module.
Additionally, use this tab to:
  • Enable the change of state for each input point
  • Enable diagnostics for open wire
  • Enable diagnostic latching
  • Set an input filter time
  • Enable change of state for diagnostic transitions

TIP:

Parameters
Enable Change of State
Select the boxes for each input point that you want to set the HIGH to LOW (On -> Off) transition and the LOW to HIGH (Off -> On) transition for each point.
When a box is selected, it enables the transmission of data whenever the corresponding input point makes the specified transition.
Enable Diagnostics for Open Wire
Select the box for each input point that you want to detect open circuit at any place in the wiring (could be off terminal, off load, or broken wire).
Enable Diag Latching
Select the box for each input point you want to enable diagnostic latching; do not select the box for each input point you want to disable diagnostic latching. When diagnostic latching is enabled, the diagnostic members will remain set once they are triggered, even after the error condition is gone. This allows you to detect intermittent diagnostics.
This feature affects most of the diagnostic features. Refer to Diagnostic Latching to see which features are affected and which are not.
Enable Change Of State for Diagnostic Transitions checkbox
Select this box to enable the module to transmit diagnostic status data with an updated timestamp as soon as the diagnostic data changes state.
If this box is not selected, then the diagnostic status data will be transmitted cyclically at the RPI and changes in the diagnostic data will not update the timestamp.
requested packet interval (RPI)
The amount of time (in milliseconds) between updates of data from the remote controller. This value is scaled as a real value from the microseconds stored in the controller. The local controller will receive data at least this fast.
Input Filter Time (ms)
Select a value to set these two values for filter times for each input point group:
  • ON to OFF (rise filtering)
  • OFF to ON (fall filtering)
This filter is used to filter out noise spikes and is a simple delay filter. The input must remain at its new state continuously for at least the duration of the filter setting. For example, if the delay is set at 2ms for Off -> On, and the input is Off, the input must remain On for at least 2ms for the On state to be recognized and reported by the module in the data. If the input came On for 1.8ms and then went Off for 0.2ms and then came back On for 1ms, the input module would never recognize an ON state and would continue to report Off.
A pair of Off -> On and On -> Off filters work for a group of 8 input points.
