Configuration Tab 1756-IF4FXOF2F

Use this tab to configure the 1756-IF4FXOF2F floating point, analog input module.
On this tab, you can:
  • select the channel you want to configure
  • enter scaling values
  • enter a real time sample period
  • enter an input range
  • enter a calibration bias value
  • select a digital filter time
  • select a notch filter frequency
    TIP:
    The module configuration information is stored in the
    module
    A device, typically an I/O device, that communicates with the controller. The controller, a particular 1756-IB16I or a PanelView are all considered modules.
    controller and the controller configures the module.
    controller
    A device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).
Parameters
Channel
Select one of the channel buttons to display its information on this tab.
Scaling
  • Low Signal
    Enter a low scaling value in signal units, volts or milliamps depending on configured Input Range. You must set this input point within the module default signal range, -10 to 10 V or 0 to 20 ma. This value is scaled to Low Engineering value.
  • Low Engineering
    Enter a value in user engineering units to which the Low Signal should be scaled. All values sent to/from the module are in engineering units.
  • High Signal
    Enter a high scaling value in signal units, volts or milliamps depending on configured Input Range. You must set this input point within the module default range, -10 to 10 V or 0 to 20 ma. This value is scaled to High Engineering value.
  • High Engineering
    Enter a value in user engineering units to which the High Signal should be scaled. All values sent to/from the module are in engineering units.
    • -10 to 10V
    • 0 to 5V
    • 0 to 10V
    • 0 to 20 mA
Input Range
Select the operating range of a specific channel:
Digital Filter
Select a filter time constant in milliseconds. This field is a first order lag filter that smooths input transitions.
RTS (Real Time Sample Period)
Enter the time (in milliseconds) to indicate how often the module’s inputs are to be sampled.
There is only one RTS for the entire module (you can’t have a different one for each channel).
The RTS period controls how often the module prepares new readings. The Requested Packet Interval (RPI on the Connection tab) controls how often the module sends its current readings to the controller. Generally these two values should be similar so that each reading gets sent to the controller one time.
Synchronize Module Inputs
This feature is used to allow all the 1756-IF4FXOF2F modules in a rack to synchronize the time in which samples are taken. The default is unchecked meaning no synchronization.
OK
Select this button to accept your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Cancel
Select this button to cancel your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Apply
Select this button to apply your edits on any tab and continue editing.
If:
  • You are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
  • This controller is the owner controller and,
  • You have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you select the Apply or the
OK
button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t select
Apply
, your changes are not sent to the controller.
