Module Properties Dialog Box - Configuration Tab Overview (1756-OA8D)

Use this tab to configure a 1756-OA8D digital AC diagnostic module.
Additionally, use this tab to::
  • Select a value to determine the behavior of each output when the controller transitions to Program mode
  • Select a value to determine the behavior of each output when the connection from the controller to the output module has been broken (that is, communication to the output module was established and then communication failed).
  • Verify that the actual state of an output is the same as the commanded state, when the commanded state was ON
  • Detect the absence of field wiring or a missing load
  • Detect the loss of field power
  • Enable diagnostic latching
  • Select what to do with outputs in case of a communications failure in Program mode
    TIP:
The module’s configuration information is stored in the controller and the controller configures the module.
Program Mode
Select one of these for each output point:
  • Off - output will be 0 or OFF in Program mode
  • On - output will be 1 or ON in Program mode
  • Hold - output will maintain last state in Program mode
Use this function to determine the behavior of each output when the controller transitions to Program mode. While in Program mode, outputs from the controller are ignored and the output behaves according to one of the above.
Fault Mode
Select one of these for each output point:
  • Off - output will be 0 or OFF in Communications Fault mode
  • On - output will be 1 or ON in Communications Fault mode
  • Hold - output will maintain current level in Communications Fault mode if communications fail while in the Program Mode state.
Use this function to determine what happens to the output of each point after a communication fault occurs and the module enters Communications Fault mode.
Communication Failure
Select one of these if communications fail:
  • Leave outputs in Program mode state
  • Change outputs to Fault mode state
Output Verify
Select the box for each output point to verify that the actual state of an output is the same as the commanded state, when the commanded state was ON. A fault is detected when the output point is erroneously OFF after it has been commanded to be ON.
This diagnostic is enabled only when an output point is commanded to be ON.
No Load
Select the box for each output point to detect the absence of field wiring or a missing load.
This diagnostic is enabled only when an output point is commanded to be OFF.
Field Power Loss
Select the box for each output point you want to sense if the field power to the digital output module is lost.
TIP:
This field appears for diagnostic AC output modules only.
Enable Diag. Latching
Select the box for each output point you want to enable diagnostic latching; do not select the box for each output point you want to disable diagnostic latching. If enabled, the diagnostic members remain set once they are triggered, even after the error condition is gone. This allows you to detect intermittent diagnostics.
