Configuration Tab 1756-OF6CI, -OF6VI, integer

Use this tab to configure the 1756-OF6CI and 1756-OF6VI isolated, integer, analog output modules.
On this tab, you can:
  • select the channel you want to configure
  • choose to cause the module to hold the output signal unchanged until the output value received from the controller within 0.1% of full scale of value being held
  • configure the fault state
  • enter a user fault state value
  • enable ramping, at the ramp rate limit, from the current output value to the Fault Value if a fault occurs
  • set a value for the output to transition to when the module enters Program State
  • select what to do with outputs in case of a communications failure in Program mode

    The module’s configuration information is stored in the controller and the controller configures the
    controller

Parameters
Channel
Select one of the channel buttons to display its information on the Configuration tab.
Hold for Init
Select this box to cause the module to hold the output signal unchanged until the output value received from the controller is within 0.1% of full scale of the value being held. The output will hold when:
  • Power-up occurs (holds at zero)
  • A new connection is established (brings it out of fault state and it holds at the fault value from the previous configuration)

  • The controller returns to Run mode after Program mode (continues to hold at the configured value that was held in Program mode, see the Output State tab)
The output channel holding allows the controller to synchronize with the output, enabling smooth output transitions and avoiding rapid transients when control resumes from an interruption.
The output can be ramping to the configured hold value when the transition occurs. In this case, it continues the ramp until it completes or until the output value from the controller is within the 0.1% of the output signal. When the Hold for Initialization box is not selected, the output switches as quickly as possible to the first value commanded by the controller.
Fault State
Select:
To configure the output channel to:
Hold
remain at the last output value
User
go to a specific value if the connection is lost to the owner controller. If you select this button, enter a value for the output to take upon fault in User Fault Value.
User Fault Value
If you selected User in the Fault State field, enter a value for the output to transition to if the module enters Fault State.
This field is disabled if you chose Hold in the Fault State field.
Ramp to Fault
Select the box for each output point for which you want to enable ramping, at the ramp rate limit, from the current output value to the Fault Value if a fault occurs. Two conditions must be set when configuring Ramp to Fault:
  • Fault State must be set to "User" to use a Fault Value on fault detection.
  • Maximum Ramp Rate must be a non-zero value.
If you select this box, the Rate Limit is your ramp rate.
This field is disabled if you chose Hold in the Fault State field.
Program State
Select:
To configure the output channel to:
Hold
remain at the last output value
User
go to a specific value if the owner controller is switched into Program mode. If you select this button, enter a value in User Program Value.
User Program Value
Set a value for the output to transition to when the module enters Program State.
This field is disabled if you chose Hold in the Program State field.
Ramp to Program
Select the box for each output point for which you want to enable ramping, at the current rate limit, from the current output value to the Program Value when a program command is received from the controller. Two conditions must be set when configuring Ramp to Program.
  • Program State must be set to "User" to a Program Value on the Program mode.
  • Maximum Ramp Rate must be a non-zero value.
If you select this box, the Ramp Rate Limit is your ramp rate.
This field is disabled if you chose Hold in the Program State field.
Rate Limit (Counts/S)
Enter the maximum rate of change in the output signal for each output point. This field is expressed in counts per second. Ramping outputs are updated approximately every 35ms.
Communication Failure
If communications fail in Program mode, then:
Select:
To:
leave outputs in Program mode state
not transition outputs from existing program mode state
change output to Fault mode state
Fault mode
The controller mode entered when a major fault occurs and is not handled by a fault routine or controller fault handler program. Most operations act as if the controller were in Program mode, but it is impossible to switch back to Run mode without clearing the fault condition.

Select this button to accept your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Cancel
Select this button to cancel your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Apply
Select this button to apply your edits on any tab and continue editing.
If:
  • You are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
  • This controller is the owner controller and,
  • You have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you select the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t select Apply, your changes are not sent to the controller.
