Module Properties Dialog Box - Channel A Link Status Tab Overview (1756-DHRIO)

Use this tab to view channel A status, adapters, counters, and block transfer information. This tab applies to 1756-DHRIO modules.
On this tab, you can:
  • View link status of the remote I/O link
    I/O (input/output)
Devices that provide and/or receive data from the controller.
  • View baud rate of the remote I/O link
    baud rate
The speed of communication between devices on a network. All devices must communicate at the same baud rate.
  • View number of retries allowed
  • View adapter information
  • View link counters
  • View block transfer counters
  • Reset counters to zero
  • Refresh all fields with data from the module
    module
A device, typically an I/O device, that communicates with the controller. The controller, a particular 1756-IB16I or a PanelView are all considered modules.
Parameters
Link Status
Displays the status of the remote I/O link connected to the target channel:
  • Online
  • Configuring new scan list
In the process of setting up a new scan list in the RIO scanner for this channel
  • Offline (no scan list)
No scan list exists in the RIO scanner for this channel
  • All adapters inhibited
All adapters in the scan list are in an inhibited state
  • Rack overlap
RIO scanner has determined that there are address overlaps
    address
A PLC-5/SLC term. File, element, and bit addresses (for example, N:7/0) no longer exist in ControlLogix. Instead, memory is allocated and named using tags.
  • Duplicate scanner
more than one scanner is trying to control the I/O
  • Maximum # devices exceeded
RIO scanner has detected too many devices
  • Transmit error
RIO scanner had a transmit error
  • Spurious interrupt
RIO scanner detected an unidentified interrupt
  • No adapters found
    RIO scanner found no adapters
  • Babble detected
The scanner was unable to get a quiet period on the link so that it can begin transmitting
Baud Rate
Displays the baud rate of the remote I/O link on the selected channel:
  • 57.6K (default baud rate for RIO)
  • 115.2K
  • 230.4K (default baud rate for DH+)
    TIP:
    The
    Logix Designer
application automatically detects the channel configured for RIO when you create children modules under the 1756-DHRIO. If both channel A and B are using DH+ you will not be able to create children modules under the 1756-DHRIO module. If RIO is chosen for both channels you must choose the desired channel for any children modules to use.
Retries Allowed
Displays the number of attempts the scanner tried to communicate with an adapter before it declares it faulted.
Adapters
This field:
Displays the number of:
Faulted
faulted adapters detected by the scanner
Online
adapters that have responded at least once
Inhibited
unique scan list entries that are inhibited
Unique
unique adapters in the scan list. You can have an adapter in the scan list several times so it is scanned more often.
Link Counters
These are diagnostic counters that pertain to the remote I/O link on the selected channel.
This field:
Displays the number of:
Link Retries
actual retries performed on the link
Messages Sent
requests sent
Messages Received
good replies
Adapter Timeouts
the number of times the adapter failed to reply within the normal reply time allotted
Duplicate Scanner
more than one scanner is trying to control the I/O
Block Transfer Counters
These are the diagnostic counters that pertain to block transfers (BT) for the selected channel.
This counter:
Indicates:
Request Timeout
the BT request did not get a response within four seconds
Checksum Error
the BT response checksum did not match the checksum calculated by the scanner
Type Mismatch
the scanner requested a read but got a write response
Length Mismatch
the scanner requested a length that differs from that of the BT module
Unsolicited
the scanner received an unexpected BT request from a BT module
Write Unsuccessful
the status byte of the response to the write indicated a write failure
byte
A storage location in memory consisting of a group of 8 bits.
Module Requested Too Much Data
the scanner offered a write of X words but the BT module asked for X+ words.
Reset
Select this button to reset all Link counters to zero.
Refresh
Select this button to refresh all fields with data from the module.
