Configuration Tab - 1794-IJ2, 1794-IJ2I, 1797-IJ2

Use this tab to configure the 1794-IJ2, 1794-IJ2I, or the 1797-IJ2 module.
On this tab, you can:
  • Select the channel you want to configure.
  • Select the alarm type-Frequency or Acceleration.
  • Enter the Maximum Frequency or Acceleration.
  • Select an input frequency range.
  • Select a time period for frequency sampling.
  • Select a time period for calculating accelerations.
  • Select an inverted input type-Frequency or Gate.
  • Select the method of frequency scaling.
    Tip:
The module’s configuration information is stored in the controller and the controller configures the
    controller
A device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).
    module.
    module
A device, typically an I/O device, that communicates with the controller. The controller, a particular 1756-IB16I or a PanelView are all considered modules.
Parameters
Channel
Select the desired channel to set configuration values.
Frequency or Acceleration
You can choose the way in which you wish the module to determine if the Module Alarms on a Frequency or Acceleration value. The values are:
  • Frequency
  • Acceleration
The default value is set for Frequency.
Maximum Frequency/Acceleration (1794-IJ2 and 1797-IJ2 modules)
You choose the highest frequency or absolute acceleration/deceleration from a range of values that are allowed by the frequency that is input to the module.
When you choose Frequency, the value you enter in this field must be within the Frequency Range you selected. When you choose Acceleration and apply a value of 0, acceleration calculations are disabled. The Maximum Frequency/Acceleration units are displayed in Hz when Frequency is selected. Acceleration values are always in the range of 1...32767. When Acceleration is selected, the Maximum Frequency/Acceleration units are displayed in Hz/s. The default value is set to 0 for Frequency and for Acceleration depending on which is the current selection. The values are:
  • 0 Hz- 32,767 Hz or 0.0 Hz - 3,276.7 Hz (Frequency)
  • 0 Hz/s - 32,767 Hz/s (Acceleration/Deceleration) (default)
Frequency Range (1794-IJ2 and 1797-IJ2 modules)
You specify the range of the frequency that is input to channels 0 or 1 of the module.
Frequency Ranges include 1...32,767, or 1.0...3,276.7. A value below 1 Hz causes 0 to be reported. A value below 1.0 Hz causes 0.0 to be reported.
When the Frequency exceeds the module’s Maximum Input Frequency, the Frequency value 32,767 is reported, or the Frequency value 3,276.7 is reported depending on the Frequency Range setting. Valid ranges are:
  • 1 – 32767 (below 1 Hz reports 0)
  • 1.0 – 3276.7 (below 1.0 Hz reports 0.0)
The default value is set for 1 – 32767.
Minimum Frequency Sample Time
The minimum time (in ms) that the module spends collecting pulses to determine the Frequency.
The calculated Frequency depends on Minimum Sampling Time and Missing Pulse Multiplier. If input pulses are not present within the time periods allotted by these parameters, zero Frequency (0 or 0.0) is reported. The values are:
2ms
4ms
5ms
10ms
20ms
50ms
100ms
200ms
500ms
1000ms
Acceleration Calculation Time
The number of Minimum Frequency Sample Times over which the module calculates acceleration.
The values are:
Rolling Average
8
16
32
Invert Input Frequency
You choose whether you wish to invert the frequency input signal or keep it set to active high, or Normal.
When the Frequency check box is checked, the input signal is inverted, or Invert, active low, or 0v=ON. When the Frequency checkbox is not checked, the input signal is not inverted, or Normal, active high, or 24v=ON.
The default is Normal or unchecked.
Invert Input Gate
You choose whether you wish to invert the gate input signal or keep it set to active high, or Normal.
When the Gate check box is checked, the input signal is inverted, or Invert, active low, or 0v=ON. When the Gate checkbox is not checked, the input signal is not inverted, or Normal, active high, or 24v=ON.
The default is Normal or unchecked.
Frequency Scaling Multiplier
This field lets you specify a multiplier to use to scale the incoming frequency value.
No scaling multiplication is performed when you choose 0. In this case, a multiplier of 1 is applied as the Frequency Scaling Multiplier. Values range from 0...255.
The default value is 0.
Frequency Scaling Divisor
This field lets you specify a divisor to use to scale the incoming frequency value.
No scaling division is performed when you choose 0. In this case, a divisor of 1 is applied as the Frequency Scaling Divisor. Values range from 0...255. The default value is 0.

If:
  • you are online in Program, Remote Program, or Remote Run mode and,
  • this controller is the owner controller and,
  • you have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you click the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t click Apply or OK, your changes are not sent to the controller.
