Fault/Idle Action Tab - FLEX I/O Analog

Use this tab to configure the safe state value for a module. This tab configures the behavior of outputs and is not available for modules that do not have outputs.
Parameters
Communication Fault Behavior
Select the way in which you want the adapter to respond when a communication fault occurs with this module. Choose from:
  • Reset Outputs
    - Resets the module output data to zero (default value).
  • Hold Last Outputs
    - Retains the module output data in its last state.
    TIP:
If you select this option, you cannot select Apply Safe State to Outputs in the Program Mode Behavior field below.
  • Apply Safe State to Outputs
    - Sets the output signals to the values configured as Safe State values.
    TIP:
If you select this option, you cannot select Hold Last Outputs in the Program Mode Behavior field below.
Program Mode Behavior
Select the way in which you want the adapter to respond when it detects Program mode (idle).
TIP:
When the adapter is receiving real time output data from the controller the module is in Run mode. When the adapter is not receiving real time output data from the controller and if there is a communications fault, the module operates in fault mode. Under any other conditions it is in Program mode, or Idle mode. When it detects Run mode, the adapter copies the output data from the controller to the corresponding module output. When it detects Program mode, it responds according to the choice you select for this field.
You have three choices:
  • Reset Outputs
    - Resets the module output data to zero (default value).
  • Hold Last Outputs
    - Retains the module output data in its last state.
    TIP:
If you select this option for the 1794-IF2XOF2I and the 1794-OF4I, you cannot select Apply Safe State to Outputs in the Communication Fault Behavior field above.
  • Apply Safe State to Outputs
    - Sets the output signals to the values configured as Safe State values.
    TIP:
If you select this option, you cannot select Hold Last Outputs in the Communication Fault Behavior field above.
Safe State Value
Enter the appropriate value for each channel. (Note that you must set the Communication Fault Behavior or the Program Mode Behavior to "Apply Safe State to Outputs" otherwise the values you configured are not used.) The default value is 0.
Choose from the following FLEX I/O Combo and output modules for their valid safe state values and Voltage/Current Ranges.

If:
  • you are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
  • this controller is the owner controller and,
    controller
A device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).
  • you have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you click the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the connection to the module is not inhibited). If you don’t click the Apply or OK button, your changes are not sent to the controller.
TIP:
The connection to a FLEX I/O module using Rack communication cannot be inhibited. The
Inhibit
check box on the Connection tab is disabled in this case.
