Fault/Idle Action Tab 1794-OF8I, 1794-IF4XOF4I/A

Use this tab to configure each channel of your analog module.
Parameters
Communication Fault Behavior
Configure the adapter’s response to a communication fault for this module. Upon detection of a communication fault, choose if the adapter:
  • Reset Outputs (default) – resets the module output data to zero
  • Hold Last Outputs – leaves the module output data in its last state
  • Apply Safe State Value to Outputs – applies safe state data to the module output
Program Mode Behavior
The ControlNet adapter can detect the state of the controlling processor or scanner. Two states can be detected:
  • Run mode – the adapter copies the output data received from the processor to the corresponding module output
  • Program mode (idle) – the adapter can be configured to:
  • Reset Outputs (default) - resets the module output data to zero
  • Hold Last Outputs – leaves the module output data in it last state
  • Apply Safe State Value to Outputs – applies safe state data to the module
Channel
Configure the corresponding channel.
Safe State Value
Determine the value to apply to the module outputs when Apply Safe State to Outputs is chosen for either the Communication Fault or Program Mode behavior.
Enter a module output count; units are not valid for this field. You must translate the desired setting to a count value. See the Safe State Values Ranges table as a reference. Valid ranges are determined by the Voltage/Current Range specified on the Output Configuration dialog box. If the value is out of range, an error message displays that provides the proper range.
The default values are dependent upon the module type.
The number of channels displayed depends on the number of output points for the module.
If you change the output configuration setting of the Voltage/Current Range field, it may change the range of valid Safe State Values and it may cause the current Safe State Value to be out of range. Note that changing the output configuration setting of the Voltage/Current Range field does not change the Safe State Value itself.

If:
  • you are online in Program, Remote Program, or Remote Run mode and,
  • this controller is the owner controller and,
    controller
A device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).
  • you have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
  • when you click the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t click Apply, your changes are not sent to the controller.
Note that the connection to a FLEX I/O module using Rack communication cannot be inhibited. The Inhibit check box on the Connection tab is disabled in this case.
