Module Properties Dialog Box - HART Command Tab Overview

Use this tab to automatically configure the HART Field Device with user supplied PV Damping and Range values. When these features are enabled, the module sends the PV Damping and PV Range values to the HART Field Device connected to the channel.
The parameters are blank and appear dimmed when HART is disabled for the channel.
Parameters
Channel
Click a channel to display the parameters for the corresponding channel.
Disable Data Publishing (Command 3)
Select this check box to disable the module from sending Command 3 messages to the HART Field Device connected to the channel. Disable data publishing if you are not using dynamic variables in your control system.
Clear the check box to enable data publishing. When data publishing is enabled, the module continuously sends Command 3 messages to the HART Field Device and collects dynamic variables and status information. The dynamic variables and the status information are published in the Input Tag. This information is also available through a CIP unconnected message.
Enable HART Device PV Damping Configuration (Command 34)
Select this check box to automatically configure the HART device using the value entered in
PV Damping
. When enabled, the module sends Command 34 to the Field Device connected to the channel when the device is connected.
PV Damping
is not available when the check box is not selected.
PV Damping
Type the PV Damping value for the HART device.
Enable HART Device PV Range Configuration (Command 35)
Select this check box to automatically configure a HART device using the values entered in the PV Range Units, PV Upper Range, and PV Lower Range parameters.
Clear the check box to disable the feature on the channel. PV Range Units, PV Upper Range, and PV Lower Range appear dimmed when this feature is disabled.
PV Range Units
Click the dots button to select the units for the PV Upper and Lower Range.
PV Upper Range
Enter the PV Upper Range value. The Upper Range value must be greater than the Lower Range value.
PV Lower Range
Enter the PV Lower Range value. The Lower Range value must be less than the Upper Range value.
OK
Click this button to accept your edits and close the dialog box.
Cancel
Click this button to close the dialog box without accepting your edits.
Apply
Click this button to accept/apply your edits. If the following conditions exists when you click Apply or OK,
  • you are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
  • this controller is the owner controller and,
    controller
    A device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).
  • you have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the connection to the module is not inhibited). If you don’t click Apply or OK, your changes are not sent to the controller.
