Module Properties Dialog Box - Time Mastership Tab Overview (1756-SYNCH)

Use this tab to designate a station as the Time Master for the
SynchLink
 connection. When a station is designated as the
SynchLink
 master, it is the only time master allowed for the entire
SynchLink
 system. In addition, this tab allows you to make the 1756-SYNCH module the Coordinated System Time Master for the given chassis. While this latter selection is an option for the 1756-SYNCH module in the master chassis (the ControlLogix processor might be the designated backplane CST master instead), this selection is not an option for the slave/follower chassis that are receiving CST from the master chassis in order to achieve common synchronization of all the CST clocks in a system.
Parameters
Make
SynchLink
 CST Master
Check this box to make this module the
SynchLink
 CST Master. If this box is check, this module relays time from the Chassis CST Master to
SynchLink
.
Make Chassis CST Master
Check this box to make this module the CST Master for the chassis.
Dependence on
SynchLink
Check the appropriate option, based on whether or not you will require
SynchLink
 to relay time from the
SynchLink
 CST Master to the chassis. Choose from:
  • Required -
    SynchLink
     must be present for time to be relayed
  • Not Required - A
    SynchLink
     connection must be present initially, but time can be relayed even if a
    SynchLink
     connection is subsequently lost
  • Ignored - The
    SynchLink
     CST Master will be ignored on power-up

This textbox displays explanatory text based on the options you have chosen for the other parameters on the page.
Danger
Changing settings online may turn off servo axes in synchronized controllers in this chassis, or in other chassis using
SynchLink
. This warning appears when appropriate.
