Homing page

Use the settings on the
Homing
page to:
  • Select a homing mode.
  • Select the home position of the motor.
  • Specify the offset of the axis from the home position.
  • Select the homing sequence.
  • Select if the limit switch is open or closed.
  • Configure direction, speed, torque level and return speed for an active homing sequence.
  • Access the
    Hookup Tests
dialog box to determine motor and feedback polarity.
TIP: To open the Homing page:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    , expand the
    Motion Groups
    folder, and double-click an axis.
  2. From the
    Axis Properties
    dialog box, in
    Categories
    , click
    Homing
    .
These are the Homing page parameters.
Parameter
Description
Mode
Determines if homing actively moves the axis to generate the homing event or if some external agent moves the axis to generate the homing event. Available options:
  • Active
  • Passive
Position
Specifies the home location of the motor in user defined position units.
Offset
Specifies the amount the axis is offset from the home position in user defined position units.
Sequence
Determines the motion sequencing that triggers the desired homing events. Available options:
  • Immediate
  • Switch
  • Marker
  • Switch-Marker
  • Immediate Absolute
Torque Level
Specifies the torque level as a percentage of continuous torque that the motor uses to return to the home position.
Limit Switch
Determines if the limit switch is normally
Open
or
Closed
. This parameter is available when
Sequence
is set to
Switch
or
Switch-Maker
.
Active Homing Sequence Group
These parameters are available when
Mode
is set to
Active
and
Sequence
is not set to
Immediate
.
Direction
Determines the direction the motor takes to reach the home position. Available options:
  • Forward Uni-Directional
  • Forward Bi-directional
  • Reverse Uni-Directional
  • Reverse Bi-Directional
Speed
Enter a value, in user defined position units, for the speed the motor uses to reach the home position.
Torque Level
Specifies the torque level as a percentage of continuous torque that the motor uses to return to the home position.
Return Speed
Enter a value, user defined position units, for the speed the motor uses to return to the home position.
Test Marker
Opens the
Hookup Tests
dialog box to determine motor and feedback polarity.
This button appears dimmed in offline mode and when online in Servo On mode.
