Guidelines to copy items in Controller Organizer

There are two ways to copy items using drag-and-drop in the
Controller Organizer
:
  • Drag-and-drop an item on the parent of the item. When you drop the item on its parent item, a copy of the item appears under that parent item. The copied item becomes a sibling item to the original dragged item.
  • CTRL+drag-and-drop an item anywhere it is legal to make a copy of the item in the
    Controller Organizer
. When you drop the item on the target, the copied item appears under the target.
When you copy an item:
  • An integer is added to the item name to uniquely identify it. For example, if you make copies of Prog001, the copies are named Prog0011, Prog0012, Prog0013, and so on.
  • Routines are renamed if there is a conflict with the name of an existing routine under the target program.
  • If you copy items to a different project in a different copy of the
    Logix Designer
application, the items are renamed only if there is a conflict with the name of existing items in the different project.
You can select multiple items to copy. The copy operation proceeds if at least one item is legal to copy (only the legal items are copied). An error message is logged if one or more of the selected items cannot be copied. If none of the selected items can be copied, the NOT cursor appears when hovering over the target.
