Modify Custom Language dialog box overview

Use the Modify Custom Language dialog box to reconfigure a custom language.
Parameter
Description
Old Name
Displays the current name for the custom language.
Old Root Language
Displays the current root language that is associated with the custom language.
New Name
Enter a unique name for the custom language following the RFC1766 naming conventions.
The following are RFC1766 naming conventions.
  • The name must be unique.
  • Custom names are case insensitive.
  • Custom names may only contain the characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and a dash (-).
  • Invalid characters are ignored.
  • The maximum length for a custom language is 40 characters.
New Root Language
Select a root language to associate with the custom language.
Root languages cannot be custom languages. If a root language is specified, the custom language appears along with the root language in lists such as the Localize To list in the export wizard.
New Full Name
The custom language prefixed with the RFC1766 name of the specified root language. When a root language is not specified, the name is prefixed with x-.
