PPID ramp and operator ramp values

Use the
SP ramp
tab on the
PPID Properties
dialog box to monitor ramp values and to set the ramp target and ramp time in Operator mode.
To monitor ramp values and configure operator ramp values for PPID instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Under the
    General
    tab, select the
    SP ramp
    tab.
  3. In the Operator
    Target
box, enter the setpoint ramp target value in PV engineering units. The setpoint target value is clamped at the SP High/Low limit, and the constrained value actually used appears in this box when ramping starts. If the setting requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the setting from the Logix Designer dialog.
  4. In the Operator
    Time
box, enter the setpoint ramp time in seconds. The setpoint ramp time is recalculated when the requested rate-of-change exceeds the rate-of-change increasing or decreasing limits. The new time to reach target appears when ramping starts. If the setting requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the setting from the Logix Designer dialog.
  5. Select the
    Ramping Start
    and
    Stop
buttons to start and stop the setpoint ramping function. The
    Start
button is enabled when the ramping wizard is enabled and ready to use in Operator mode. After startup, the setpoint ramps until it reaches the target. Select
    Stop
to terminate ramping before the setpoint reaches the target. The action is immediate if the command request does not need to be confirmed by the operator. If the command request requires a signature, this will enforce security from the HMI and disable the command from the Logix Designer dialog.
  6. Monitor these parameters:
    • Device state
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, displays the current device state, such
      SP ramping
      or
      CV held
      .
    • Device issues
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, displays fault conditions, such as
      PV uncertain
      ,
      SP fail
      , or
      Configuration error
      .
    • Device mode
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, displays the current device mode:
      • Manual
      • Auto
      • Cascade (no Ratio)
      • Ratio
    • SP ramp wizard
. Displays the status of Setpoint ramp wizard function. The ramp wizard function can be in progress, enabled, or disabled. Ramping is not available when the instruction is configured for
      Ratio
      .
      Use the
      Advanced
tab to enable the ramp wizard.
    • SP ramp target
      . The
      Target
boxes display the setpoint ramp target values for Program, External, and Override modes. The setpoint target value is clamped at the SP High/Low limit, and the constrained value appears in each box when ramping starts in that mode.
    • SP ramp time
      . The
      Time
boxes display the setpoint ramp time, in seconds, in Program, External, and Override modes.
    • SP rate-of-change increasing/decreasing limit
. Display the current setting of rate-of-change limits applied in the ramp calculation.
    • SP High/Low limit
. Display the current setting of setpoint limits applied in the ramp calculation.
    • Current SP
. Displays the current setpoint used in the ramp calculation when the ramp starts.
    • Current SP rate of change
. Displays the resulting setpoint rate-of-change applied while the setpoint ramp is in progress. The value is in PV engineering units per second.
  7. Select
