Add a PDF document to a screen or popup
Add a PDF document to a screen or popup from the
Project Explorer
. When adding a PDF document from the Documents
folder of the Project Explorer
, select the PDF Viewer Add-On Graphic or PDF graphic element to display the PDF document on the HMI device. A PDF Viewer Add-On Graphic has touch, navigation, and zoom commands. PDF documents appear directly in an Add-On Graphic. An Add-On Graphic cannot contain another Add-On Graphic.Prerequisites
- (optional) Create bookmarks for the PDF document prior to adding the document to the project.
To add a PDF document to a screen or popup
- In theProject Explorer, expand theAssets > Documentsfolder.
- Right-click the PDF document and selectAdd to (screen name)or drag the PDF document to the screen or popup. TheSelect PDF Viewerdialog box opens listing PDF Viewers and PDF graphic elements.Tip:TheSelect PDF Viewerdialog box lists Add-On Graphics when only one PDF graphic element in the Add-On Graphic has a user-defined property aliased to the DocumentName property of the Add-On Graphic.
- Select the PDF Viewer or graphic element to display the PDF document on the HMI device and clickOK.
- In thePropertieswindow of the PDF Viewer or Add-On Graphic, click thePropertiestab.
- Expand a category to display a property and change the value or bind a property.Tips:
- Each screen has a limit of displaying two PDF documents. This includes both PDF Viewer Add-On Graphics and PDF graphic elements.
- PDF documents on the HMI device support internal links for navigation within the PDF document. PDF documents on the HMI device do not support external links. PDF links cannot navigate outside of the PDF document on the HMI device.
- PDF files that contain complex drawings take longer to render. For example, if a PDF document contains an image comprised of individual shapes such as lines, circles, and rectangles, that image takes longer to render than a drawing that is a single image.
- Do not rotate the PDF graphic element or a PDF Viewer Add-On Graphic. Rotating an element containing a PDF document reduces the clarity of content in the PDF document and prevents zooming and navigating the PDF document on the HMI device.
