Export Alarm history
Export the alarm history from the HMI device to removable media to view the alarm state changes collected on the HMI device. Open the exported alarm history file on a computer.
Prerequisites
- Insert an SD Card or a USB drive into the HMI device so the Alarm Log service can export.
To export the alarm history
- Open theSettingsscreen.
- SelectData Export. TheData Exportpopup opens.
- InWhat to export,selectAlarm history.
- In theFilenamebox, enter a name for the export file. "archive_alarms"
- InDestination, selectSD CardorUSB Device.
- SelectExport.Export progressshows a progress bar. TheData Exportpopup displays the last date and time a data log or alarm history exported at the top of the window.TIP:Tips:
- When the alarm history is exporting,Data Exportappears in theSystem Banner.
- If there is an error in logging data or exporting,Data Export Errorappears in theSystem Banner.
- Data exports do not complete or create a .zip file on removable media if a ControlFLASH, reboot, or power cycle to the HMI device occurs during the export or when removing media before the export is complete.
- There is no potential damage to files when removing a USB storage device when exporting data completes.
IMPORTANT:
Do not remove an SD card before preparing the media for safe removal. This may corrupt files on the removable device if the HMI device has data logging configured.
- If an SD card contains the exported alarm history file, next toSD Card, selectSafely Remove SD Card. TheData Loggerstatus at the top of theData Exportpopup changes toStoppedandRemove SD card; reinsert to resume logging dataappears.

Data Export Removeappears in theSystem Banner. It is safe to remove the SD card.TIP:Tips:- When exporting the alarm history to an SD card or USB storage device, avoid error messages by ensuring that the SD card or USB storage device:
- has sufficient space
- is inserted into the HMI device
- has write permissions
- is a supported SD card type
- has a supported format of either FAT32 or EXT3
- is not corrupted and does not contain corrupted files
- If data does not export to a supported SD card that meets requirements, reboot the HMI device. If rebooting fails, insert the SD card into a computer and verify that the SD meets requirements. Follow any prompt to scan and repair the file system index on the SD card.
