Cut, copy, and paste project elements

Cut, copy, and paste elements in the
System
explorer to remove or reuse FactoryTalk Smart Objects, programs and routines.
To cut, copy, and paste project elements
  1. On the explorer bar, select FTDStudioSystemV1
    System
    . The elements in the project appear.
  2. In
    System
    , select a FactoryTalk Smart Object, or expand the FactoryTalk Smart Object to select a program or routine.
  3. Select
    Edit > Cut
    or
    Edit > Copy
    .
  4. Select the location to place the element and select
    Edit > Paste
    . The element and the content within the item appear in the new location.
    TIP:
    • Copying and pasting elements increments element names numerically.
    • Valid paste operations include:
      • Pasting a FactoryTalk Smart Object in another FactoryTalk Smart Object or in the blank space at the bottom of the explorer pane.
      • Pasting a program in a FactoryTalk Smart Object.
      • Pasting a routine in a program.
    • To use the menu
      bar or keyboard to perform operations:
      • Select
        Edit > Cut
        or press
        Ctrl+X
        .
      • Select
        Edit > Copy
        or press
        Ctrl+C
        .
      • Select
        Edit > Paste
        or press
        Ctrl+V
        .
    • Menu options are unavailable when you cannot cut, copy or paste the selected elements.
    • An error message appears when you attempt to use a keyboard shortcut for an invalid operation.
