Internal Fault
The self-test failed or a severe communication fault has occurred. The module cannot communicate. This
fault is only displayed for communication modules when they cannot communicate over all configured media. For example, a 1756 CNB module, which cannot communicate over a ControlNet network, would indicate an Internal Fault when queried over the ControlBus.
module
A device, typically an I/O device, that communicates with the controller. The controller, a particular 1756-IB16I or a PanelView are all considered modules.
fault
A problem or error detected by the control system hardware or software. A fault is identified by an error code or an error bit.
