About Tool Windows

Tool windows offer specific functionality such as the display of errors, warnings, messages and search results, and the monitor of program and controller scope tags. Tool windows save space and time by allowing for placement and size of windows that makes the most sense to a workflow. These Tool windows are displayed from the
View
menu. The
Logix Designer
application offers these Tool windows:
  • Controller Organizer
  • Logical Organizer
  • Errors
  • Search Results
  • Watch
The title bar of each Tool window displays these buttons:

Window State.
Click to display a menu with the following options:
  • Floating.
    Place or float a Tool window on top of the main
    Logix Designer
    application and other windows.
  • Docking.
    Position a window selected as Auto Hide in its last docked position. This button is only available on the title bar of an Auto Hide window. Floating or dragging is not available on an Auto Hide window.
  • Auto Hide.
    Automatically hide a window to click or view another window. When using Auto Hide, a tab appears on a border of the main window. Click or hover over the tab to redisplay the automatically hidden window.
  • Hide.
    Hide a window to view it again when chosen.

Automatically hide a window when selecting or viewing another window. When using Auto Hide, a tab appears on a border of the main window.
tabbed
Select or hover over the tab to redisplay the automatically hidden window.
dock
Dock.
Position an Auto Hide window in its last docked position. This button is only available on the title bar of an Auto Hide window. Floating or dragging is not available on an Auto Hide window.
close
Close.
Close the window.
TIP:
To display context menu options, right-click a Tool window's title bar. Arrange and resize Tool windows as desired.
