Change EtherNet/IP Mode dialog box

Use this dialog box when the controller is offline to change the EtherNet/IP Mode setting of the A1/A2 Ethernet ports on the controller. The EtherNet/IP Mode describes the relationship between the CIP EtherNet/IP ports and the physical Ethernet ports. The CIP EtherNet/IP port can be configured as one of two modes:
  • Dual-IP
  • Linear/DLR
This dialog box is available only for controllers that support one or more configurable Ethernet port pairs, for example, the
CompactLogix
5380 and
CompactLogix
5480 controllers. The
CompactLogix
5480 controller's standalone B1 port is not reconfigurable and retains the same configuration regardless of the EtherNet/IP Mode.
TIP: To open the Change Ethernet/IP Mode dialog:
  1. On the
    Online
    toolbar, click the
    Controller Properties
    icon.
  2. On the
    Controller Properties
    dialog box, click the
    General
    tab, and click
    Change IP Mode
    .
Parameter
Description
Current mode
Shows the current EtherNet/IP Mode.
New mode
Specifies the new EtherNet/IP Mode. Available modes:
  • A1/A2: Dual-IP
    - Both ports of the configurable pair reside on separate Ethernet networks, each with its own IP address. All Ethernet ports on the controller share a single domain name and DNS server address configuration. For
    CompactLogix
5380 controllers, port A1 provides this information and for
    CompactLogix
5480 controllers, port B1 provides this information.
L5K_dual_ IP_ mode
  • A1/A2: Linear/DLR
    - Both ports of the configurable pair reside on the same Ethernet network as a single logical node.
L5K_LinearDLR_mode
Move I/O and MSG Paths to port
Specifies which local Ethernet port in the I/O Configuration tree to add the I/O module when changing from Linear/DLR mode to Dual-IP mode.
This parameter is available when the
New mode
changes from Linear/DLR mode to Dual-IP mode and at least one I/O module is underneath a configurable port pair in the I/O Configuration tree.
