Faults & Alarms page

The
Faults & Alarms
page displays the current status of faults and alarms log structures currently in the controller for this axis.
  • The display is read-only except for the ability to clear logs independently.
  • The grid only shows entries when online with a controller.
  • When online, select or clear the boxes in the
    Show
    row to toggle between showing and hiding the specified group of entries. The last 25 faults and alarms only display.
TIP: To open the Faults & Alarms page:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    , expand the
    Motion Groups
    folder, and double-click an axis.
  2. From the
    Axis Properties
    dialog box, in
    Categories
    , click
    Faults & Alarms
    .
The
Faults & Alarms
tab includes these parameters.
Parameter
Description
Indicator
Displays the following icons to indicate the state of a fault or alarm.
alarm on - Alarm On
alarm off - Alarm Off
fault occurred - Fault Occurred
reset occurred - Reset Occurred
Date/Time
Displays the date and time the event occurred.
The timestamp is formatted to the workstation (that is, whatever time the PC is set to).
Source
Displays the source of the event.
Some examples of sources include:
  • Safety Fault
  • Module Fault
  • Group Fault
  • Axis Fault
  • Axis Alarm
Inst
On an axis that supports the extended subcode feature, displays the hardware instance for the subcode.
Condition
Displays detailed information specific to the event category and code.
For drive exception conditions, the information is the same text used for the condition. This field may contain additional information when the
Subcode
field is used for that entry and is a more detailed entry if both codes are used in the log.
Some examples of conditions include:
  • Group Sync Failure
  • Bus Overvoltage UL
  • All Axis Faults
  • Motor Overspeed
  • Axis Init Fault
  • Motor Overcurrent
  • Brake Slip
  • Motor Phase Loss
  • Bus Capacitor Failure
Subcode
Displays the fault subcode reference number.
Action
Displays the action command that was executed in response to the event as configured in the axis. For instance, in many cases this indicates a command sent to a drive.
Some examples of actions include:
  • Planned Stop
  • Ramped Stop
  • Limited Stop
  • Coast
  • No Action
  • Alarm Off
  • Alarm On
End State
Displays the action result returned from the axis, which may be more detailed than the command sent. For instance, a send of Disable Drive may result in either Holding, Shutdown or other status.
Some examples of end states include:
  • Stopped - Hold
  • Stopped - Disable
  • Shutdown
  • Shutdown Reset
Faults
Toggle between displaying or hiding the fault conditions.
Alarms
Toggle between displaying or hiding the alarm conditions.
Resets
Toggle between displaying or hiding the reset entries.
Clear Log
Clears the fault and alarm logs in the controller for this axis. Once cleared, all the icons in the
Indicator
column are removed.
