Firmware Update Progress Dialog Box Overview

This dialog appears when you begin the firmware update process and shows you the progress of the update.
Parameters
Controller Type
The type of the controller whose firmware you want to update.
Serial Number
The identifying serial number of the controller.
Comm. Path
The communications path you are using to communicate with the controller.
Current Revision
The revision of the firmware currently in the controller.
Update Revision
The firmware revision to which you are updating.
Status bar
Provides you with status information about the update. You will see one of the following messages:
  • Transmitting Block x of y
    where y is the number of blocks in the current update phase. Note that there are one or more phases to an update (e.g., an update to a Logix controller has 3).
  • Transmitting reset command. Please wait. . .
    After two of the phases, it is necessary to reset the controller. This message appears while waiting for the controller to acknowledge the reset command.
  • Polling for power-up. Time left: 0:59
    This message appears while waiting for the controller to power up after a reset.
    TIP:
    There is no Cancel button on this dialog box because you cannot terminate the update process once it has begun. Note that the Esc key will not work for this purpose either.
