Express Setup dialog box

There are two ways to access the Express Setup dialog box:
  1. If the
    Express Setup
button on the switch has been pressed, select any tab. The Express Setup dialog box displays.
  2. If the address has been entered but has not been sent to the switch, select any tab.
    1. An error message displays.
    2. Perform the steps listed on the error message and select
      OK
      .
    3. The Express Setup dialog box displays.
Use this dialog box to configure the IP address and other settings for this switch. The IP address can be manually assigned (static) or it can be automatically assigned by a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server.
Once you complete express setup, the switch executes a global macro (ab-global). This macro configures the switch for industrial automation applications that use the EtherNet/IP protocol. This macro sets many parameters, including these major settings:
  • Enable Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) snooping and querier
  • Enable CIP
  • Configure Quality of Service (QoS) settings and classify CIP, Precision Time Protocol (PTP), and other traffic (does not apply to switches with lite firmware revisions)
  • Enables alarms, SYSLOG, and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) notifications
  • Enables Rapid Spanning Tree (RSTP), bridge protocol data unit (BPDU) Guard, BPDU Filter, and loop guard
Manually assign the IP address to use the same IP address. Contact a network administrator or the Network Information Center for a unique IP address to assign to the switch.
TIP:
For a manually assigned IP address on a network using a DHCP server, make sure that the IP address is not within the range of addresses that the DHCP server will automatically assign to other devices. This prevents IP address conflicts between the switch and another device.
The parameters in this view are available while online.
