New Entry dialog box parameters

The
New Entry
dialog box includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Number of Entries Available
Displays the number of translation entries available on the switch. The switch supports a maximum of 128 translation entries.
Type of Entry
Defines the type of entry to add to the translation table.
  • Single – a single IP address; the
    Range
    and
    Subnet Mask
    fields are disabled
  • Range – a range of IP addresses; the
    Subnet Mask
    field is disabled
  • Subnet – all the addresses in a subnet; the
    Range
    field is disabled
Starting Public IP Address
Specifies the public address or the starting address for the device(s).
The Public IP address needs to be unique. There can be duplicates in different NAT instances, but not in the same instance. The same Public IP address can appear in both the Private to Public NAT Table and Public to Private NAT Table of the same instance.
An invalid
Starting Private IP Address
results in
Effective Private Addresses
field to be blank.
If the
Type of Entry
is
Subnet
,
Starting Public IP Address
must correspond to the size of the subnet mask. See more details in Starting Public IP Address.
Starting Private IP Address
Specifies the existing address or the starting address for the device(s) on the private subnet.
The Private IP address needs to be unique. There can be duplicates in different NAT instances, but not in the same instance. The same Private IP address can appear in both the Private to Public NAT Table and Public to Private NAT Table of the same instance.

Effective Private Addresses
field to be blank.

Type of Entry
is
Subnet
,
Starting Private IP Address

Range
Specifies the number of addresses to include in the range. Valid values are 1..128. The default value is 1.
Tip
: Each address in the range counts as one translation entry. The switch supports a maximum of 128 translation entries.
Subnet Mask
Specifies a list of valid subnet masks for the addresses to translate. Valid values:
  • Class B: 255.255.0.0
  • Class C: 255.255.255.0
  • Portion of Class C:
    • 255.255.255.128 (provides 128 addresses per translation entry)
    • 255.255.255.192 (provides 64 addresses per translation entry)
    • 255.255.255.224 (provides 32 addresses per translation entry)
    • 255.255.255.240 (provides 16 addresses per translation entry)
Effective Public Addresses
Displays the unique public address or range of unique public addresses to represent the devices.
Effective Private Addresses
Displays the existing address or range of existing addresses for devices on the private subnet that are configured for translation.
