PoE view

Use the
PoE
view to configure the Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports. PoE provides electrical power and data on a single Ethernet cable to end devices. Use the
PoE
view to:
  • View the PoE status.
  • Limit the total power supported.
  • Configure mode and power settings for individual ports.
For most applications, the default configuration (Auto mode) is sufficient and requires no further configuration. These settings can be customized. For example, to give a PoE port higher power priority, set
Mode
to
Static
and allocate the power to use. Or, to disallow high-power devices on a port, set
Mode
to
Auto
and specify the power limit.
TIP:
The parameters in this view are available while online.
For more information about PoE, refer to the
Stratix Managed Switches User Manual
, publication
1783-UM007
.
IMPORTANT:
When the PoE configuration settings to a port change, the port drops power. Whether the port powers up again depends on the new configuration, the state of the other PoE ports, and the state of the power budget.
