Cut, copy, and paste a ladder diagram element

Cut or copy and paste ladder diagram instructions, branches, and branch levels in a routine to configure an instruction.
Prerequisites
  • Create a FactoryTalk Smart Object.
  • Create a program.
  • Create a routine.
  • Add a ladder diagram element.
To cut, copy, and paste a Ladder Diagram element
  1. In the routine, right-click a ladder diagram element and select
    Cut
    or
    Copy
    .
  2. Right-click a location in the routine and select
    Paste
    . The element is pasted.
  3. (optional) To cut or copy multiple ladder diagram instructions, branches, and branch levels, hold
    Ctrl
    and then select multiple Ladder Diagram elements before you cut or copy. When you copy and paste nonconsecutive elements, the selected elements paste in order from left to right over the last selected rung.
    TIP:
    • When you copy nonconsecutive ladder diagram elements in the order of 4, 2, and 1, the elements paste over element 1 (the last element selected) and paste in the order of 1, 2 and 4.
    • When you copy nonconsecutive ladder diagram elements in the order of 5, 2, and 4, the elements paste over 4 (the last element selected). The new elements paste in the order of 5, 6, and 7.
    • When copying consecutive elements in the order of 1, 2, and 3, the elements paste over 3 (the last element selected). The new elements paste in the order of 4, 5, and 6.
    • Cut or copy and paste multiple instructions, branches, and branch levels on the same rung. The FactoryTalk Smart Object software does not support multiple cutting and pasting between rungs or branch levels.
  4. When you copy nonconsecutive ladder diagram elements in the order of 4, 2, and 1, the elements paste over element 1 (the last element selected) and paste in the order of 1, 2 and 4.
  5. When you copy nonconsecutive ladder diagram elements in the order of 5, 2, and 4, the elements paste over 4 (the last element selected). The new elements paste in the order of 5, 6, and 7.
  6. When copying consecutive elements in the order of 1, 2, and 3, the elements paste over 3 (the last element selected). The new elements paste in the order of 4, 5, and 6.
  7. Cut or copy and paste multiple instructions, branches, and branch levels on the same rung. The FactoryTalk Smart Object software does not support multiple cutting and pasting between rungs or branch levels.
