Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPNs. MFA is a core component of a strong identity and access management (IAM) policy. Beyond traditional username and password requirements, MFA implements additional verification factors, significantly reducing the likelihood of successful cyber-attacks.
MFA enhances Rockwell Automation's security infrastructure by implementing multiple layers of authentication beyond username and password credentials. While credentials are essential, they can be vulnerable to brute force attacks and third-party theft. By enforcing additional MFA factors such as One-Time Passwords (OTP), biometric verification, or physical security keys, Rockwell Automation maintains robust protection against cyber threats.
